WHAT IS THE WAGE & INVESTMENT DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W&I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W&I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W&I partners with private organizations disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers. Receive, record, sort, batch, associate, control, stage, collect, mail, extract and distribute incoming/outgoing work. Maintain, update, and purge suspense/closed files; examine and perfect documents; determine header data and number return/documents Perform a variety of administrative tasks using an automated system which involves:
inputting, assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work status and inventory records; administering and performing other support activity. GS-1 LEVEL:
To qualify for the grade 1 level, you must be 16 years of age, this is the minimum age allowed for Federal employment.In addition to the above requirements, you MUST meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows:
An individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree/diploma (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93-842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program. You must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
