Independence, MO Independence, MO $4,670 - $7,005 a month $4,670 - $7,005 a month Customer Service Field Supervisor Apply Before Open Until Filled Job Number 2023091 Salary $4,670 - $7,005/monthly Under general supervision, performs work supervising the day-to-day operational and administrative work of subordinate staff involved in assisting the public with a variety of information relating to water service, meter services, meter reading, billing, and collection.
Responds to requests for information; resolves more complex problems referred by subordinate staff.
Serves as On-Call Supervisor on a rotating schedule and responds to problems related to area of responsibility after hours, weekends, or holidays.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Requires High School diploma or GED; College degree preferred; and five years of experience performing customer service-related duties which includes at least three years serving as a supervisor over less experienced staff; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must currently have or obtain a Missouri DNR Class DS II or higher, Drinking Water Distribution License within first six months of hire date.
Requires a valid Missouri driver's license.
Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent communication skills including vocabulary, diction, written and ability to express thoughts clearly; listening interpersonal and customer service skills to deal effectively and professionally with issues arising from staff, customers and management.
Strong customer service orientation and demeanor, organization and time management skills.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, to deal effectively with changes, variables and gray areas.
Experience with computerized billing system, accounts receivables and collection.
Knowledge of departmental standard operating procedure; City government organization, operations and services; computer software applications related to the work; basic budgetary principles and practices; basic mathematical computations, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing; and applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up assignments with a minimum of direction; and apply logical thinking to solve problems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff; read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation, maintenance and procedure manuals and instructions; and speak effectively before groups of employees.
Physical Abilities:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, to reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Working Conditions:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
Office environment is typically quiet and temperature controlled.
